#SDG 2 ZERO HUNGER ADVOCACY PROJECT

The SDG Goal 2 seeks sustainable solutions to end hunger in all its forms by 2030 and to achieve food security. The aim is to ensure that everyone everywhere has enough good-quality food to lead a healthy life. Achieving this Goal will require better access to food and the widespread promotion of sustainable agriculture. MAMA Initiative in partnership with SDGsACT Nigeria and World Merit Nigeria had this in mind when they decided to first create advocacy around the goal by involving youths from the communities to come forward and identify possible solutions and also get the opportunity to feed less privilege community members. Unfortunately, only one correct entry was received and the project was executed last Saturday 20th July, 2019.

The project eventually fed over 200 person (90% Children) from identified community in Kano State, Nigeria.

  • While we agree that truly there is hunger and action must be taken immediately, we have also come to realize that a total re-orientation of the social mindset of people must also come along.
  • Aside providing them with food, it is also important that a sustainable business be designed for residents of this community whose about 70% youth population hardly can communicate in English.

MAMA Initiative will be going back to this community to do a proper research on the immediate needs.

Thank you partners for the wonderful job done we are indeed #leavingnoonebehind
